Arthur Ransome “Amazon” Replica For Sale
My dad was a very keen “Swallows and Amazons” fan, the book by Arthur Ransome, and in his latter years he built a dinghy designed, based on Ransome’s “Amazon”. He named it “The Grizzled Skipper” after his favourite butterfly found in Dorset UK. The dinghy was also very similar to his aunt’s boat which he used to sail at Swanage as a boy.
This little boat was built in 2016, largely from Huon Pine and is as close as possible to the original design and was built with all the care and attention to detail possible. It is built in the traditional clinker method. This can be seen in the attached photos. See also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MzNfrpgrtU
I am looking for a buyer who would be a caring owner for this very little used 13 ft craft on its own trailer.
Asking $10,000 but willing to negotiate.
