The Old Gaffers Association of Western Australia

The association for gaff rig and traditional sailing boats in Western Australia.

The Association aims to promote activities in Western Australia for traditional boats, particularly those with gaff, gunter and lug rigs but also classic boats of all types, as well as to support interest in Australia’s maritime heritage.

We organise sailing, racing and meetings both on and off the water for gaff rigged boats and host the annual Old Gaffers Association Swan River Regatta.  We are based in Perth but aim to attract members and to organise events throughout the region.

We hold regular bi-monthly meetings and arrange visits, forums and social events to support members in building, restoring and sailing traditional boats, and to enjoy the company of like-minded people.

The Association is affiliated to the parent Old Gaffers Association founded in 1963 in the United Kingdom. Both organisations are often referred to by their members as the OGA.  We also exchange information with similar organisations in Victoria and Tasmania.

Membership is open to all who share an appreciation of these beautiful and historic boats.
